Supporting amputees of Aceh in regaining their self-confidence, self-reliance and livelihood following the South East Asian earthquake and tsunami.
May 2008: This website will close down soon.
Our main objective to establish the charity P3CA has been achieved and many tsunami disabled and their dependents have been helped with health issues and livelihood support.
However, during the last eighteen months of operation, the focus has widened from the original aims of supporting tsunami amputees (as agreed with Handicap International) to include all disabilities over a wider area. This is with the guidance of Aceh Partnerships in Health and the assistance of tsunami funds from other charities.
We no longer receive sufficient feedback from P3CA to make regular, interesting contributions to make the website worthwhile.
The Aceh Disability Centre Appeal Fund will maintain contact with P3CA and will forward any donations with directions that they are to be used for their original purpose.
We wish to extend our sincere thanks, on behalf of many injured and disabled people in Aceh, to all those who have supported us since the great tsunami.

The Aceh Disabled Rehabilitation Centre was opened in Banda Aceh, Indonesia in July 2005.
Extensive efforts have been made by a team of Acehnese healthcare professionals and volunteers to ensure that all amputees will be self-sufficient and able to work again.
This small charity,
supported by former expatriate residents and entirely dependent on donations, is
giving direct help to the poorest people and their children. These pages show
the aims and achievements of P3C-Aceh, and explain the different ways in which
the amputees need help. Find out how you can help.

Prior to the disaster, the facilities to support the physically disabled in Aceh were very limited. See our plans to remedy this.
A registration process identified the specific requirements of those physically disabled by the tsunami, most of whom had already received medical care, also those previously disabled who had not received adequate help either medically or with rehabilitation.
P3C-Aceh is working in co-operation with other charities, prosthetics suppliers and hospitals already working with amputees.
